What can I expect during a session?

I'll arrive at your home usually at 10am or 2pm. When I arrive, I like to put my main focus on your little ones. I want to build a trusting relationship with them. After all, I am a stranger walking into your home and wanting take photos with a big black camera! I want to make them laugh, I want them to take me on a tour of your home, showing me their bedroom, their favourite toys, where mum and dad sleep. During this tour I will be sussing out the spaces in your home and also giving you a run down of the shot list and my plan for your session. I will position you in the best light, gently guide you to spark the most natural connections by playing games, prompting a tickle fest, asking you to look at each other, etc. By doing this, it helps you to feel relaxed, comfortable and results in images you will look back on and cherish.

In home session? My house looks anything but a display home!

Don't worry. I get it! I have three under 5 and the thought of dressing each of them and then trying to keep your home absolutely picture perfect seems like hard work! The main spaces I shoot in are the master bedroom, kids bedrooms and the living area. There is no need to make everything sparkle and shine. Just make it tidy. Maybe declutter a little. The whole reason for booking an in home session is to remember the everyday, favourite toys, books, blankies, messy beds. If you need advice, send me through some pictures of these spaces and I can offer some guidance. Ultimately, I will only be shooting in the areas with the best natural light. I will explain this to you once I am in your home.

What do we wear?

This is the most frequently asked question I get asked from clients. Helping clients select their outfits is something I love to do. It's such an important element to make your session timeless, co-ordinated and pop! Colours, textures and patterns can work beautifully for a session. They add depth, emotion and just work so beautifully. I will get you to figure out what Mum is wearing first, and then choose your outfits around that. Try not to have too many contrasting patterns. One person wearing a pattern in the shoot is normally enough. Please, no big logos or sports shirts - this is key. Anything with writing or big pictures detracts from the subject (ie you guys!) and also dates quickly… I will say a big NO to matchy-matchy (think white and denim, it is so 1990's). You want these images to be timeless. Remember, you need to feel happy and comfortable in what you're wearing, both standing and sitting. It's my job to make you look beautiful, but it really helps if you're feeling confident and relaxed. Below are some of my favourite places to shop and where you may find some inspo. Don't feel the need to go and buy new outfits (although it is a good excuse for a shopping spree) this is simply a guide to show the type of textures patterns and colours that can take your pictures to the next level.

So the weather isn't looking too flash. Can we reschedule?

Most definitely. If it is looking like it will be wet and miserable I will be in contact the night before the session and we can decide to play it by ear or choose another date.

Will you retouch our photos to make me look slimmer or to whiten my teeth?

I am all about embracing who you are. The imperfect, the real and raw. I do carefully edit all sessions. I will fix blemishes and marks if requested. If you are wanting additional retouching, an additional hourly rate will be charged.

When should we book our newborn session?

It's best to book your newborn session within the first 12 days of them being born. Think about the time your baby is most settled. I will always book around then. I make sure to allow enough time for feeds, nappy changes, so we never feel rushed.

During the session, there is a high chance that our little one will get up to mischief or have their grumpy pants on. What happens then?

Honestly, I would be surprised if they didn't. I am a mum to a 5 year old, 4 year old and 1 year old. I can totally relate to how unpredictable they can be. I usually let the little ones take the lead. If a snack/ drink break is in order, then so be it. I usually have a few tricks up my sleeve to keep them entertained and interested (my Early Learning background comes in handy in situations like this!).

So we have booked an outdoor session. Is there anything we need to bring?

I'll bring some of the essentials- bandaids, repellent and sunscreen.  If you could pack change of clothes (especially for the little ones), water, a few snacks and a favourite toy or 2. If you have an amazing blanket to sit on, bring that too!

do you offer payment plans?

Yes I do. Let's chat and we can tailor something that works for you!

I can't see anything on your site about weddings. I'd love to find out more.

If you are interested in hearing more, then click here and check the box "weddings". I can answer as many questions as you like.

Do you travel?

Yes!!! I love to travel. I am available for interstate travel and international sessions. I service Melbourne and it's surrounds. Anything outside of that will incur a travel fee. Don't worry, I like to keep it fair as I love travelling to new destinations.

But I have more questions! No problem. Let's chat
